A major component of these animals' lives are spent basking underneath the Sun's warm rays. And they know just as well as we do, that the sun does not remain in the same spot in the sky throughout the day. In fact several groups in the order Squamata have evolved over the millennia a specialized organ called the "parietal eye". Which is a photosensitive organ used to detect light. Now although its true function has yet to be discovered. Many believe that it has a role in thermoregulation, serving as an illuminometer.
Our Mission
Change is never a bad thing and there's always room for improvement. Peruse through any reptile husbandry guide and you'll find the authors suggesting a typical setup with a heat source on one side of the enclosure and a UVB bulb on the other. Thereby creating a stationary thermoregulatory environment for the animals and although it serves its purpose in allowing the reptiles to regulate their internal body temperature.
